If you are thinking of buying a siberian husky as a pet, you should bear in mind the following drawbacks :
i) You must have a good (at least 6ft high) fences – these dogs are natural escape artists. If they cannot get over a fence they will tunnel under it.
ii) You can never let a siberian husky off its lead – they will just runaway. They may return eventually, hours or sometimes days later (they must be trained properly)
iii) Siberian huskies are born hunters. Although usually good with other dogs, they regard rabbits, chickens, cats etc as fair game.
iv) They are no good whatsoever as guard dogs – they will barely register the arrival of visitors, let alone warn of their presence.
There are however some advantages attached to the siberian husky (there must be or we would not have them)
i) They are very affectionate to children and adults and are usually good with other dogs.
ii) They are very clean in themselves, easy to house train and do not have a doggy odour.
